This reference list is not intended to be exhaustive but gives many of the key references to the literature on the distribution and conservation of both D.plantarius and other Dolomedes species and to the systematics and genetics, population biology, diet and prey capture, and dispersal and locomotion in the genus as a whole. Some relevant references are also given to other Pisaurid species, and to conservation genetics/molecular ecology and evolutionary issues in other spiders. Finally, a few general references are given to spider identification
